July 6 - Lacrimations and messages to Sister Agnes Sasagawa Katsuko from 1973 to 1981 (Akita, Japan; recognized by Bishop Ito in 1984)

The message of Mary at Akita concerns all of us today

On this anniversary of the beginning of the lacrimations of the Virgin Mary in the convent of Akita, Japan, let us remember the three messages given by the Blessed Virgin to Sister Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa, a nun of the convent of Akita, in 1973. Here is an excerpt from the message of October 13, 1973:

"As I have told you, if men do not repent and amend themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible chastisement on all mankind. (...) A fire will fall from heaven and will destroy a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither the priests nor the faithful. (...) The only weapons you will have left are the rosary and the sign left by my Son.

Every day, recite the prayers of the rosary. With the rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests. The work of the devil will infiltrate even the Church in such a way that we will see cardinals against cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. Priests who venerate me will be despised and opposed by their confreres. The Church and the altars will be stripped. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the devil will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

(...) If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no question of forgiveness for them. Speak courageously to your superior, he will know how to encourage each one of you to pray and do works of reparation."

We know that prophecies are above all admonitions or warnings to urge everyone to convert before it is too late, so that the announced punishments do not occur... Let us remember the prophecy of Jonah (Book of Jonah, chapters 3 and 4) announcing the destruction of Nineveh if the city did not convert. But Nineveh was not destroyed because its people were converted, with the king in the lead...

When he retired, Bishop John Shojiro Ito of the Niigata diocese, which includes Akita, pronounced the apparitions as supernatural on April 22, 1984.
