April 10 – Our Lady of Laval (France)

Mary was the "only woman" in Carlo's life

Carlo Acutis (1991-2006) is a young Italian saint who died at the age of 15. He is a model of holiness for our time and especially for millennials. Recently beatified by Pope Francis, Carlo is a modern tessera (1) of the Christian mosaic, who can be described as the first saint of cyberspace. He actually had outstanding computer and Internet skills, that he chose to use to spread his Catholic faith.

From the time when he was a little boy, even though his parents were minimally practicing, Carlo showed an unusual attraction for Catholic spirituality and a great devotion to the Virgin Mary, whom he described as the "only woman" in his life.

Despite his young age, he left behind many profound pages of his thoughts. And after his untimely death, from leukemia, he was found incorrupt. His body is now exposed, through a glass window, to the many pilgrims who come to pray near his tomb in Assisi, Italy. They have dressed him in jeans, a polo shirt and sneakers. This is reminiscent of Father Alexander Men’s (2) prophetic statement: "Christianity has just begun!"
