September 19 - Our Lady of La Salette, Reconciler of Sinners (France, 1846)

Young visionary's description of Our Lady

The beautiful Lady stood up while we remained transfixed where we were. She said: “Come closer, my dear children, don't be afraid. I am here to bring you some good news.”

Fully reassured, we hurried over to her. The Lady's voice was similar to music. We got so close to her that another person would not have been able squeeze between us. We gazed at her and noticed that she was crying. She looked like a mother beaten by her own children and who had escaped up to the mountains to sob her eyes out.

The beautiful Lady was tall and seemed to be made of light. She was dressed like a local peasant with a long dress, an apron nearly as long as the dress, a white shawl, and a cap. Roses crowned her head while another wreath of roses adorned the edges of her shawl and a third garland covered her shoes. On her brow shone a light in the form of a diadem. Over her shoulders there was a heavy chain as well as a smaller golden chain with a resplendent crucifix.
