November 25 – Mary Consoler of the Afflicted (Rome, Italy) – St Seraphim of Sarov

Mary, terror of demons

Despite the fact that Satan seduced Eve, dragging Adam after her, God not only gave us a Redeemer who by his death defeated death, but in the person of the Woman, the Mother of God, the ever-Virgin Mary, who crushed in herself and in the whole human race the head of the serpent, he provided us with a tireless advocate before his Son and our God and invincible defender of even the most hardened sinners.

It is for this reason that she is called "the terror of demons", for it is impossible for the demon to destroy a man as long as he himself perseveres in calling on the help of the Theotokos (Mother of God).
