May 16 – Our Lady of Miracles (Saronno, Italy, 1925)

The whole pontificate of Pope Francis is Marian

After Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa announced to Pope Francis that he would attend the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at the Cova da Iria in Fatima, other presidents followed suit: the president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, and the president of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes, who arrived in Portugal on May 12, 2017.

Alongside them were the heads of state of Sao Tome, Cape Verde and Guinea Bissau.

The Pope landed at 4 pm at the Monte Real airport, north of Lisbon, and arrived two hours later in Fatima. He went to the shrine of Fatima in his popemobile and directly to the chapel built on the site of the 1917 apparitions (from May 13 to October 13). He presided over various events and led the torchlight procession.

We can say that the whole pontificate of Pope Francis, entrusted to the Virgin of Fatima in May 2013, is "Marian" in nature, as this first gesture made clear. This recent trip to Fatima, Portugal, on May 12-13, 2017, for the centenary of the apparitions to the Cova da Iria, was a confirmation of it.
