March 9 – Our Lady of Miracles (Treviso, Italy, 1510)

The simplest way to pray

It is the nature of love to repeat itself with simple and endearing words... If you realize that you can find happiness and peace by taking your Rosary and plunging yourself into a rhythmic and repetitive prayer, you are indeed happy.

If you succeed in reciting the Rosary entirely without being worried about thinking too much, but simply enjoying the peaceful company of the Mother of Jesus, rejoice, for you are surely under the action of the Spirit, and this alone matters when we pray.

For those who do not understand anything about spiritual life, the Rosary is synonymous with mechanical prayer. To the person who is "spiritual" and advanced in the path of prayer, the Rosary is the simplest way to concretely and durably experience prayer.

I am not afraid to affirm that he who loves this kind of prayer and is comfortable reciting the Rosary is a contemplative, or surely on the path to contemplation.

So be careful not to denigrate what you do not know. The Rosary is a universal mode of prayer. We find it, indeed, in all revealed religions.
