Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt sets a good example

On Saturday, August 14, 2016, the famous Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won the gold medal in the 100-meter event. His performance made him the first athlete to win three consecutive gold medals in the 100-meter sprint. There's no doubt about it: Bolt is considered the fastest man in the world.

However, not everybody knows about Bolt’s deep Catholic faith. In August 2012, during the days following his performance at the London Olympic Games, Catholic News Agency reported that the Vatican had invited Usain Bolt to give a lecture on religious freedom. According to the article, "As a Catholic, Bolt is known for making the sign of the cross before each competition. Note that his middle name is St Leo."

He wears a medal more powerful than all his gold medals: the Miraculous Medal, made popular by Saint Catherine Labouré (1806-1876). Thus Bolt gave a good example and the Virgin Mary is the most prayed saint among the runners today. The Miraculous Medal bears this inscription: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you."
