December 17 – The first church dedicated to Mary (Rome, Italy)

An all-night Rosary Vigil with the Valets of Mary

The first Rosary Vigil of the Movement of the Valets of Mary took place on Friday, October 13, 2017, in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso, inside the municipal sports complex. The event included a procession with images of the saints, the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ; a meditated Rosary with visuals; a healing service; adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and Mass.

The main objective of this Marian Vigil was to invite the faithful and all people of good will to discover the Rosary as a means of Salvation.

This event was organized to mark the anniversary of the last apparition of Our Lady of Fatima in 1917 in Portugal, said Christine Kaboré, one of the leaders of the Valets of Mary Movement (1). In fact, during the apparitions of Fatima, "the Virgin Mary introduced herself as Our Lady of the Rosary. The Rosary is a weapon, a means of sanctification that has been given to the Church. Since the early days, the children of the Church have prayed the Most Holy Rosary, and in doing so have participated in the supplicating power of the Mother of God in the heart of the church," she said.

(1) The Valets of Mary (Les valets de Marie) Movement is a group of Catholic Marian devotion, born in the diocese of Ouagadougou in 2009.
