Labor pains start during papal Mass

Beata was nine months pregnant, but she still had some time before her due date. She met her friend Sylwia in Czestochowa, Poland, for the Mass of Pope Francis, on July 28, 2016.

The Mass began. Beata had a first contraction. Sylwia was worried, but Beata reassured her: "Don’t worry. I still have plenty of time." The first reading was accompanied by another contraction. After the Gospel, in his homily the Pope spoke of the coming of God, who sent his Son born of a woman to earth. Beata made a grimace of pain.

Suddenly, the two friends realized what was happening. The medical team on site understood the situation and took them to the nearest hospital.

Somehow, the pope learned the news of this birth, and sent his blessings to Beata and her baby.

The baby was born at 2:31 pm in a Czestochowa hospital. "I am convinced that this day is an immense gift of God," the happy mother said later. "He knew that I was struggling with sadness lately. But I did not expect such a gift from God. It completely changed me!"
