February 13 - Our Lady of Pellevoisin (France)

Our Loving Mother of Mercy (I)

In the month of February 1876, in Pellevoisin, France, Estelle Faguette, a thirty-two year old French woman, was the object of five apparitions of the Blessed Virgin, followed in the same year by many others. The previous year, Estelle, dying of an incurable disease, had written a letter to Our Lady requesting her intercession to obtain a cure from God. In "response" to this letter, the Virgin Mary paid special visits to Estelle... During the night of the 14th of February 1876, a demon appeared at the foot of Estelle's bed. Just after seeing the demon, she saw the Blessed Virgin at her bedside. Our Lady rebuked the demon and he immediately departed. Our Lady then looked at Estelle and said to her, "Do not fear, you are my daughter." Mary also told her to be brave for she was to suffer five more days in honor of the 5 wounds of Christ. On Saturday she would either be cured or be dead. On the 19th of February, Estelle was cured... She led a life thereafter of humility and prayer. In total peace and certainty to find our loving Mother of Mercy, she relinquished her soul to God on August 23, 1929 at the age of 86. These are the words engraved on her tomb: "Be Simple." The Holy See approved of these apparitions in 1894. The cure of Estelle Faguette was officially declared miraculous in 1983, by Bishop Paul Vignancour, Archbishop of Bourges, France.
