October 1st - Month of the Holy Rosary - Saint Therese of Lisieux

The Prayer of the Rosary

At the request of the late Pope John Paul II in October 2002, the prayer of the rosary should be the meditation of twenty main events in the earthly life of Christ. This is why he invited "the highlighting of the name of Christ by the addition of a clause referring to the mystery being contemplated." The mysteries are now divided into four groups: - The Joyful Mysteries which are meditated each Monday and Saturday: The Annunciation, The Visitation, The Nativity of the Lord, The Presentation in the Temple, The Finding in the Temple. - The Sorrowful Mysteries are meditated each Tuesday and Friday: The Agony in the Garden, The Scourging at the Pillar, The Crowning with Thorns, The Carrying of the Cross, The Crucifixion. - The Glorious Mysteries are meditated each Sunday and Wednesday: The Resurrection, The Ascension, The Descent of the Holy Spirit, The Assumption of Our Lady in Heaven, and The Coronation of Our Lady in Heaven. - The Mysteries of Light are meditated on Thursday: The Baptism of the Lord, The Wedding at Cana, The Proclamation of the Kingdom, The Transfiguration, and The Institution of the Eucharist.
