The Testimony of the First Franciscans Martyrs

In 1220, Saint Francis sent five of his disciples to Morocco. Their preaching was quickly put to an end by martyrdom, but the death of these first apostles made such an impression on the people, that the sultan had to authorize the opening of a church: it was called Saint Mary of Marrakech, the head and the mother of all the churches of Morocco.
